The Blair was the first movie theater I noted as I was driving cross-country on two-lane roads in the Summer of 2016. Belleville, like so many rural towns, was desolate that Tuesday afternoon, but the Blair promised an escape, if only in its architecture and decor. Since then I’ve rarely gone through a town or city of any size without looking for its movie theaters.
