The Eltrym opened in June, 1940, with 700 seats. It was the first movie theater I went to, though I was a newborn so I’ve no recollection. Like most theaters the Eltrym went through some hard times in the 70s and 80s, but it’s open and showing movies today.

The name? It’s ‘Myrtle’ backwards. Read all about her here.
